Didn't find a new favorite scary movie this year, and there were two I started that were so boring I turned them off. Hopefully next year I'll have better luck!

Is it Halloween time already!? So excited for G's first Halloween! Can't wait for the weekend! Got plans to find costumes, go to the pumpkin patch, turn my garden into a graveyard...

I've not gotten a terrible amount of scary movie watching in this year, but there were a few movies/shows. Nothing that's become my new favorite thing though. Most was rather bland. There may be spoilers below.

Tuesday I woke up and realized that I really need to refill my inhaler because my asthma was acting up, but it wasn't enough to keep me from going into work. The longer I was at work the worse I felt and when I finally got home I was running a high fever. Yesterday I knew I needed to get to the doctor but I was running a very high fever and in so much pain I couldn't stomach going to a waiting room (and was pinning for those good old days I've heard about where the doctor would make house calls). Since I was so sick I couldn't care for the kids (and my dad is also sick) Andy took them to daycare. I watched the beginning of Insidious Chapter 2 but was too exhausted to finish it.

That evening after Andy had brought them home and gotten everyone to bed, I decided to finish it. Well, B wasn't really asleep and came out and started snuggling with me on the couch. I was too exhausted to let Andy (who hates horror movies and will not be in the same room with me when I am watching one) know he was out, and since my tonsils were swollen my voice is pretty much gone so I couldn't yell.

So I let him watch the end of Insidious Chapter 2 with me. Fortunately it didn't seem to scar him, after it was over he turned to me and said "night night" and let Andy take him back to bed. I guess in a few years he's going to be my horror movie watching buddy (yes!).

And today I felt well enough to go to the doctor, and it's strep throat. Lovely.

I feel like I didn't watch as many movies this year as I usually do. This month has been busy. However, I did watch two good ones, and especially after the last one I didn't feel like hedging my bets any further and watching something that was crap and ending October on that note. So here goes!

Four little non-spoilery reviews below. )

On another note, I had a horrible nightmare this morning that I was counseling someone who was actively suicidal (THAT'S enough of a nightmare on it's own). When I went to call the police she got mad and attacked me. What was weird about the dream was that usually when I'm threatened in a dream, whoever is attacking me is waiting patiently while I try to dial 9-1-1, but I can never dial it! I keep hitting the wrong buttons. In this dream I was able to dial 9-1-1 correctly, but she didn't wait patiently for me to call the police and jumped me as I was dialing!

...And then she transformed into a hideous banshee monster creature.

May be it's time to lay off the horror movies for awhile.

Yes, it is finally Halloween time! I've watched a few scary movies this year, and found some jewels and some trash. There are two I strongly recommended this year, The Caller and Absentia. text )

The Saturday before Halloween I'm getting with my sis to finally watch The Cabin in the Woods. My husband hates horror flicks so I either have to watch them on video or got out with someone else, and with a kid, it usually ends up being Netflicks. I'm also hoping that they'll put up some new horror flicks for the Halloween season for me to check out.

...And the quest for the ultimate Halloween movie continues. What I watched this past week was not scary so much as weird. Yes, weird is the word I would use to describe them. May be it's my hormones.

The cut is here. )

This is the time of year where I exhaust my Netflicks Instant View in an attempt to find a good horror movie. It doesn't help that I'm so picky. Really, the last film that I saw that I felt was genius was "The Orphanage", and I watched that a few years ago. This year I have found some films that range the gamut from "it just sucks" to "this was almost awesome."

And the films in the order that I watched them are... )
