My Grandfather (who is a 92 year old World War 2 veteran) recently managed to access PTSD benefits for trauma he experienced as a Jewish soldier in World War 2. The Disabled American Veterans charity recently did an article about him for their newsletter so other vets know that they don't have to be afraid to seek out PTSD support just because their service was a long time ago. If a World War 2 vet can still access them, ANY vet can. So I thought it would be fun to put the article here (and brag about how cool my Grandpa is)

What I’ve Just Finished Reading

The Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu
It's available for free online here. A really affecting story. What made it for me where the small details, like the water buffalo wanting to wallow and jumping into the soy sauce.

What I’m Reading Now

The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle
I really like Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, so I picked this up at a book flea market. I'm not very far in yet. I'm currently at the point where professor Challenger invites the protagonist back into his house after having bodily thrown him out a moment before. He's certainly a memorable character. I loved the interaction with his wife.

What I Plan to Read Next

Probably This Census-Taker by China Mieville since it needs to go back to the library soon.

Legit just came across a guy on Match who says he wants to get to know a date in person, "Preferably deep in the woods or in a dark alley, because I'm romantic like that."

NO DUDE NO

THAT IS NOT ROMANTIC

THAT IS LITERALLY THE START OF A MURDER MYSTERY "well, she went off to meet a blind date and never came back and six weeks later they found her body in the woods"

NOOOOOOOO

(Part of me wants to believe it's an attempt to be funny or satirical, but I CANNOT TELL.)

Does everything have to be merged with something or can things just exist on their own artistic and cultural merit?

Like, dang, I do not need Game of Thrones Catan. That shit is overkill. Also: see above.
